Using Proto gear last build I frequently hit the high thirties / low forties with only one or two deaths.
The best was getting over twenty five kills and zero deaths in an all infantry matchup with my AV fit. I started getting really reckless so I could die and respawn with my proper infantry killing gear, but everyone just kept dying to my Freedom Burst. |

I am certainly seeing a lot fewer people doing zero deaths on foot these days, but I don't think the hit detection was ever as bad as people think. Proto shield recharge and slow to update HUDs were more to blame, IMO. (I'm sure lots of people shook their fists at the hit detection while fighting me in the last build, but on my screen my shields would rocket up and down like the stock market.) It definitely did and still does break spectacularly, though. |

Fivetimes Infinity wrote: Nope, the hit detection really is that bad. There isn't a game I play as a sniper where I don't experience at least two or three people who take zero damage from sniper shots I know hit. And I know they hit because of the shield flash, although half the time it's on people who aren't even moving.
If they aren't moving they can hardly be blamed for abusing the issue.
Sniping could easily be a whole different story, since a single pixel could mean the difference between a hit and a miss and the game is sos low to update stuff that's far away. In my experience running and gunning, I've seen two major h.d. incidents, one was a scout who was strafing back and forth in concentric circles and I barely managed to graze after a full 80 round clip of hipfire (could have easily been the aim assist going wonky or me just plain being unable to keep up while trying to avoid his AUR AR bullets) and another was a nearly dead heavy who simply didn't take damage at point blank range. (I ended up knifing him instead.)
I think the problem is that the game is slow to update the status and position of enemies at extreme ranges. Objectives too; I've had a couple incidents where I was booking towards an uncapped objective only for it to suddenly change status to almost fully captured by my teammates once I came within range. |
